SullivanMunce Cultural Center is pleased to announce the theme and dates for their 30th Anniversary “First Come, First Hung” exhibition. The name is exactly what the name implies: the first forty artists through our doors on Saturday, January 21, 2012 will automatically be accepted into this popular exhibit that allows both the amateur and the professional artist the opportunity to showcase their talent in our galleries February 3 through February 25, 2012. This year the theme for the exhibit will be “SPORTS” and will be open for viewing during Z’BOWL 2012, local events and happenings during Super Bowl XLVI weekend. All art submissions should depict the artist’s interpretation of the theme “SPORTS.”

An exhibit featuring art created with glass fragments from WWII. This unique exhibition is made up of 25 stained glass “windows” of different dimensions, created by 13 artists working with various media and sensibilities. The windows are accompanied by a narrative that explains when and where the shards were collected. This exhibit is a wonderful example of the integration of art and history and will be a unique experience unlike any that has recently been in Zionsville or central Indiana.

The Souper Bowl of Caring national initiative is held each year in conjunction with the Super Bowl providing materials and other support to allow groups the flexibility to donate non-perishable food items or money to their local causes.
While supplies last, the State Bank of Lizton will provide participants with a reusable, refillable Souper Bowl of Caring cloth bag to fill and empty as many times as possible through February 4, 2012. National Youth Art Month

A collaborative “youth art project” between the Zionsville Merchants Association and the Fine Arts Department of the Zionsville Community Schools. 250-300 student created artworks (from grades 1 – 12) will be on display at Zionsville merchant locations including the SullivanMunce Cultural Art Center, Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library, ZCS Educational Services Center, and Zionsville Town Hall. A complete list of business locations will be posted in late February!
Art classes for children in grades K-12 are being scheduled at Hussey-Mayfield Library during National Youth Art Month. Plans are coming together for an opening reception and a First Friday Exhibit for Youth Art Month at the Hussey-Mayfield Library.
New this year…Artwork created by ZCS art teachers will be on display at Eagle Creek Coffee Company.
